Many insurance plans include urgent care providers—like Fast Track—for when your regular doctor is not available to you or if your condition doesn’t require the level of care an emergency room provides. However, if your plan doesn’t include an urgent care provider, you may need to pay some out of pocket costs.

Reasons to Visit Fast Track Urgent Care

Fast Track Urgent Care is a walk-in medical facility that provides medical care for those with non-life-threatening injuries or conditions. Our medical practitioners are doctors; therefore, we can prescribe medicine when you have strep throat, an infection, and more. For those in the Maryland and Washington, DC area, walk in to our medical facility next time you need to seek medical help but don’t want to spend hours (and money) on an emergency room visit.

We take care of:

  • X-rays
  • Respiratory diseases
  • Eye infections
  • Strep throat
  • Physicals
  • Cuts
  • Broken bones
  • Fractures
  • And much more!

When to Visit the Emergency Room

With most insurance plans, an urgent care copay will be less than an emergency room copay—especially if your insurance company rules your condition was not a true emergency.

Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) states on its website that emergency room visits result in the highest out of pocket costs and should only be used to treat life-threatening injuries or conditions that can’t be treated anywhere else, such as:

  • Major cuts and fractures
  • Serious injuries
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke

If you have a life-threatening medical emergency, you should call 911 immediately and/or get to an emergency room.

Check your insurance plan booklet or website for more details on urgent care vs. emergency care.  If you’re looking for “an urgent care center near me” in the DC, MD, or VA area that accepts your insurance, give us a call or stop by one of our offices.
