Tests We Perform

We offer:

  • Blood tests– The clinicians at Fast Track can perform a number of different blood tests, including basic metabolic panels, cholesterol and glucose tests, lipid profiles, and more. To find out if our labs can perform the blood test you need, please call 800-417-1164.
  • CBC (Complete Blood Count)– A CBC test (sometimes called an FBC or Full Blood Count), is a blood screening commonly requested by doctors to get information about a patient’s blood cells. The CBC determines the number of red and white cells in a patient’s blood, as well as the amount of hemoglobin and platelets, among other counts.
  • PPD (tuberculosis skin test)– If you or your doctor suspect you may have been exposed to tuberculosis (TB), it’s important to get tested right away. It takes 48 to 72 hours for PPD test results to appear, so if you need the test, make your appointment as soon as possible.
  • Pregnancy tests– Fast Track offers confidential pregnancy tests.
  • Rapid strep test– One of the most common tests for strep throat, the rapid step test produces results in about 10 – 15 minutes.
  • STD testing– If you think you may have been exposed to a sexually transmitted disease or infection, you need to get tested right away. Get a confidential STD test at Fast Track.
  • Urinalysis– Urine tests, or urinalyses, are used for drug screening and to detect a wide range of conditions from kidney stones to hypertension—and many more.
  • Mono testing– Feeling fatigued? Mononucleosis could be to blame. We offer walk-in blood testing for this common viral infection.

When Lab Testing May Be Helpful

Lab testing is often recommended when symptoms could be caused by multiple conditions, or when an accurate result is needed before next steps can be taken. Many people visit urgent care for testing when they feel unwell, when they’ve been exposed to an illness, or when a doctor has requested specific lab work.

Some patients also seek testing for time-sensitive needs, such as confirming strep throat, checking for infection indicators through bloodwork, or completing workplace or school requirements. Others simply want an accessible option when primary care scheduling is delayed. Regardless of the reason, having a convenient lab testing option nearby can reduce stress and help you make informed health decisions faster.

What to Expect When Getting a Lab Test

Depending on the type of test you are scheduling, you may need to follow specific instructions before you visit our office. Call us for more information on specific test requirements.

  • Fasting and other preparations – Some lab tests require that you fast (do not eat or drink anything) for a period of time before the test. If fasting is required or if you need to avoid specific medications or make any other preparations, your doctor or the Fast Track staff member who makes your appointment will let you know. When in doubt, ask!
  • Privacy – Your lab test will be conducted in private, and the results will be shared only with you and your physician. Please contact Fast Track for more information about our privacy policy.
  • Required paperwork and identification – When you come to Fast Track for a lab test, please bring the lab test request form from your physician, if you have one, and a photo ID, along with your insurance card.

Lab Testing at Urgent Care vs. Your Primary Doctor

For many patients, lab testing through a primary care office is ideal, especially when it’s part of long-term care planning. However, scheduling delays, limited office hours, and longer turnaround times can make that route less practical when testing is needed quickly. That’s where urgent care lab services can help.

Fast Track Urgent Care provides a convenient alternative for patients who need timely testing without waiting weeks for an appointment. Whether you’re trying to confirm a suspected illness, meet documentation requirements, or address symptoms that can’t wait, urgent care lab testing can offer a faster pathway to answers. It also gives patients access to a clinical setting where staff can help explain general testing steps and preparation guidelines.

For people in the Maryland and Washington, DC area, having a local option for lab work can make it easier to follow through on testing recommendations. When time matters, being able to get evaluated and tested in one visit can help reduce uncertainty and help you take next steps sooner.

Why Choose Fast Track Urgent Care for Lab Services?

Fast Track’s convenient hours make it easy for you to fit a lab test into your busy schedule. Our board-certified doctors and clinicians provide considerate, professional care with the same level of service you would expect at your doctor’s office.

Quick Checklist: How to Prepare for Your Visit

If you want your lab visit to be as smooth as possible, a few simple steps can help you feel ready before you arrive.

Before you come in, consider the following:

  • Confirm your test needs — If you’re unsure which test is appropriate, calling ahead can help clarify what Fast Track offers and whether any special steps are required.
  • Bring essential items — Photo identification, insurance information, and any physician paperwork can help reduce delays at check-in.
  • Follow preparation instructions — Some lab testing requires fasting or specific timing. If you’re asked to avoid food, drink, or medication beforehand, following those guidelines helps ensure accurate outcomes.
  • Plan for timing if needed — Certain tests involve follow-up steps, such as returning within a specific window for results interpretation.
  • Know your goal for the visit — Whether you’re testing due to symptoms, exposure concerns, or routine screening needs, sharing that context can help streamline your experience.

Being prepared helps your visit stay efficient and supports accurate results. If you have any questions about test requirements, Fast Track’s team can provide guidance before you arrive.

If you have any questions about our lab services at either location, please contact us or call 800-417-1164.
